Makita XCU02Z with two batteries

While most of the feedback has been favorable, a number of criticisms have also been leveled at the 36V chain saw. Before anything else, bare tool means no batteries or charger. It does not even come with a complete case. Expect to spend the extra $200 to get two 18 Volt batteries and a charger.

There is not much bad to be said for this Lithium-ion powered power tool. That being said, the saw seems to be made for right hand trigger operation. The trigger is under the top handle. Located on the left side of the top handle is the lock-off button. You need to push the button with your thumb and squeeze the trigger to operate this saw.

Despite some negative comments, most of the customer reviews have been very encouraging. Many customers have found it to be powerful enough for a cordless chain saw. Obviously, it is not meant for any heavy work. Having said that, it seems to be a great tool for camping, light trimming or storm clean-up.

Customers have also been pleased with the quiet factor. In terms of build quality, no reports of leaking oil. Other positive comments have been made for the compact, lightweight design. The tension adjustment is another characteristic of this saw that has been praised.

The Makita XCU02Z LXT chain saw will not fit everyone’s needs. However, if what you need is an occasional chain saw for light duty use, then based on the customer feedback you will be happy with this product.
